Why join the course?

As an EU citizen, you have important political rights that allow you to vote and stand as a candidate in elections in the country where you live. However, many people are not familiar with how these rights work. This course provides clear guidance and practical advice on taking part in elections at both local and European level.

What will you learn?

  • The full scope of your electoral rights.
  • How to stand as a candidate in local elections and for the European Parliament.
  • Practical tips to increase citizen engagement in the political process, particularly useful for local authorities and civil society organisations.

The course is divided into two modules:

  • Political participation in local elections - looks at the rights of mobile EU citizens to vote and stand as candidates in local elections.
  • Political Participation in European Parliament Elections - explains the process of participating in these elections and the rights involved.

The course is led by two experienced experts, Claire Moreau-Sire, EU Rights Manager at ECAS, and Marta Azevedo Silva, Communications Manager at ECAS, who will guide you towards successfully exercising your political rights.

Who can sign up?

The course is suitable for:

  • Mobile EU citizens living in another Member State.
