The list, in general, could be longer, but here we have gathered the 6 most important ones.

Typing is a skill that is at the core of computer literacy, as it is needed in absolutely all situations - from writing a resume and cover letter, to searching the internet and sending emails. If they can type, students will communicate better and with fewer mistakes.

Microsoft Office

Graduating students cannot find a job or perform well in their duties if they do not know Microsoft Office at a decent level, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Microsoft Word - Formatting texts and documents is at the core of every professional role they will encounter. The educational environment is ideal for building these skills, but not always sufficient. Offer them training so they can expand their knowledge and you will see results with the very next assignment they submit. 

Microsoft Excel - If you work with databases, you know that Microsoft Excel is your best friend, but also your greatest enemy if you do not know how it works. This is especially true for students. It is common for them to go to an interview and lie about their knowledge of the program, which of course does not go unnoticed, and soon after they face the reality of their ignorance. Regardless of the level - beginner or advanced - anyone can learn and, with a little informal training, significantly improve their capabilities. 

Microsoft PowerPoint - The visual representation of the ideas and concepts that learners present strongly affects the way they are perceived. You have probably noticed that sometimes you judge a presentation by how it looks rather than how it is delivered. If teachers judge it that way, imagine employers. Preparation is a factor, but knowledge of the program is the key that opens big doors.

If your students can work with these 3 tools, they will be prepared for everything that awaits them after graduation - creating tables and presentations, preparing professionally looking documents and reports.

Google Drive

More and more companies are starting to rely on Google Drive for processing texts, organizing data and creating presentations. Google Drive includes the same products as Microsoft Office, the interface is similar, but the main difference is that these documents can be shared and edited by other users.

Graphic skills

Among the computer skills that students must have is the ability to work with graphic design software, whether Microsoft Publisher or Photoshop. They should be able to create and edit basic graphic projects. Check out our Photoshop course

Internet search

To be successful in their careers, students need to know how to search for information on the internet effectively. They need to be able to evaluate the reliability of a site and extract the most useful information.

Social networks

Besides uploading photos on social networks, students should be familiar with safety and privacy protocols. In addition, some social networks, such as LinkedIn, are professionally oriented, and young people should know how to make their profile attract the attention of recruiters.
