How to use video in e-learning most effectively?

Most often, this type of material appears in the form of short clips with educational content.

The biggest advantages of videos are that they can provoke discussions, and the information they present is easy to understand and quickly remembered. They can be placed at the beginning of the lesson (as an introduction), in the middle (to give an example), or at the end (to summarize).

When using video materials for e-learning (e-learning, eLearning), there are several rules that it is good to follow.

1. The clips should be short, should not contain a large amount of information, and should focus on the most important points.

2. They should be small in size so that, if necessary, they can be downloaded easily and quickly.

3. Videos are most effective when they demonstrate „what to do“ and „what not to do“, especially when it comes to sales and customer service.

4. It is good for the clips to contain questions for the learners, for example „Have you ever…“, „Have you felt…?“ and others that create a sense of communication and help viewers identify with the characters (if there are any).

5. Video materials should look professional. This is not always related to high costs, and the polished details make a good impression. The content, of course, is the most important, but the quality of the image and the acting also contribute to attracting attention and interest.

6. Last but not least, we would add - use your imagination and be creative. Think about how your favorite TV shows, films, or series are made. As we already mentioned, pay attention to the details, such as the music and the plot. Hastily and carelessly made clips can provoke ridicule and lead to a loss of interest, while well-made ones will have a greater effect on those who watch them and will complement the goals of e-learning (e-learning, eLearning).
