What are chat bots?
Chatbots are programs that you can use to hold a conversation using text messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and Viber. Bots can send surveys, personalized news, and even entire training sessions.
The impact of chatbots on online learning
1. Courses will become social.
Imagine learning something you just learned in a Messenger group message? Sounds easy and enjoyable, right? And if you have questions, you can discuss them with the other participants in the chat in peace.
2. Courses will be easier to remember as you use a channel that corresponds to them better.
If you use chat bots, your learners will have the freedom to choose what to learn and from where. However, it should be noted that there are courses that are not suitable for text messaging applications, such as those for health, relationships, etc., but are extremely suitable for business training.
3. Courses will become more interactive.
Microcourses are an effective way to train, but to be really very good and useful, they need to be personalized. With the help of chatbots and their platforms, this is now easily doable.
4. Bots will make the learning process easier.
Bots will allow learners to absorb the learning material in a familiar way. Many of the barriers of other learning tools will be removed, such as login with username and password, accounts, videos, etc..
Of course, chatbots won't completely displace services like Alison, Coursera, Udemy, but the latter will likely continue to host longer and more complex courses for which certificates and diplomas are issued. For all other online training, a chat bot with standard artificial intelligence will suffice.
